Gabriele Senn Galerie curated by Margrit Brehm
Men at Work

The invited artists Bob and Roberta Smith as well as Georg Herold invoke bulky constructions fashioned from “poor” materials—originating from construction areas or bulky waste—that serve as carriers of the written word and meaning. Yet the exhibition by no means owes its title to normed roof battens or scrapped wood fashioned into writing tablets. The artworks exhibited in Men at Work instead stand for conditions and lives lived within today’s society, for an established “need for change” but also for deeply rooted doubts about a potential conclusion to this state of exception.
